In the excitement of any investigation it is easy to truly believe that you have captured photographic evidence of life beyond this realm. Conscienctious ghost researchers will carefully analyze their photographs and do their best to find an explainable cause for them. When you can rule out things like dust, bugs, rain or snow, smoke, camera straps, etc. that is the first step. The best case scenario occurs when you are able to tie additional evidence of paranormal activity to your photograph. Things like a concurrent fluctuation in temperature or EMF readings help to validate your photos.
What follows are some examples of what looks to be true representations of paranormal entities but were debunked by members of the CPPRA. These photos were all taken by members of the CPPRA.
Is this the spirit of a Gettysburg Soldier still walking the battlefield?
Unfortunately no, it is just a cannon caught at an angle that. from a distance, gives the illusion of being more than it is.
If you look off to the right of the first photograph it appears that a soldier was captured on the battlefield. It looks very compelling and real... Until you crop and blow up the picture! This is actually a photograph of a cannon on the battlefield, as seen in the same picture on the right which was cropped and enlarged to magnify the image. If the photo had not been enlarged and the true detail ascertained, this photograph would have been posted as a that of a Gettysburg soldier...
This cropped image to the left appears to capture a vortex. When the uncropped photo is viewed whole and magnified to examine detail, it is easy to see the spider webs that these apparant orbs are reflected on.. The photo on the right was taken in the same building but at a different location, however, was captured in a room with few webs and seems to truly represent a column of manifested spirit energy!
