RESOURCES - BOOKS

Most people with an interest in the paranormal find themselves looking for more information on topics of interest.  When an interest turns to a passion and/or when you just can't resist becoming a ghost hunter yourself,  you will be looking for knowledge and equipment essential to any field investigator.  Below is information on books  recommended or used by members of the CPPRA.

Hauntings and Poltergeist, a companion to the author's how-to manual Ghost Hunting, offers in-depth background for ghost hunters and anyone interested in psychic phenomena and experience, with spotlights on apparitions (ghosts), hauntings, and poltergeists. Written by a respected and renowned expert and featuring black and white photos and illustrations throughout, the book covers the concepts and theories behind ghostly phenomena through a detailed look at parapsychology; mediumship, near-death experiences, and reincarnation; how psychic abilities manifest themselves; parapsychological lab research; how investigators can recognize and enhance their psychic abilities; and more.

GHOST HUNTING tells what apparitions, hauntings and poltergeists really are. Ghostbuster Loyd Auerbach describes the many forms ghostly phenomena can take and the methods parapsychologists use to study them. He explains the technology used by ghost hunters and when equipment is and is not helpful. If you’ve encountered a ghost yourself, this book will show you how to investigate your experiences—a step-by-step and how to use the ghost busters methods to make you home "ghost-free"

In GHOST HUNTING you will discover

How to tell paranormal events from coincidence.
What’s really going on with poltergeists.
How to investigate ghost sightings.
What to do if you have a close encounter with a ghost.
How to befriend your ghost.
How to get rid of unwanted spirits.
All this and more.

The Atlantic Paranormal Society, also known as T.A.P.S., is the brainchild of two plumbers by day, paranormal investigators by night: Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson. Their hair-raising investigations, fueled by their unique abilities and a healthy dose of scientific method, have made them the subject of a hit TV show: the SCI FI Channel's Ghost Hunters.

Now their experiences are in print for the first time, as Jason and Grant recount for us, with the help of veteran author Michael Jan Friedman, the stories of some of their most memorable investigations. The men and women of T.A.P.S. pursue ghosts and other supernatural phenomena with the most sophisticated scientific equipment available -- from thermal-imaging cameras to electromagnetic-field recorders to digital thermometers -- and the results may surprise you. Featuring both cases depicted on Ghost Hunters and earlier T.A.P.S. adventures never told before now, this funny, fascinating, frightening collection will challenge everything you thought you knew about the spirit world.
